I remember when I cared more about lifting my arms to you during worship
than about what people thought of my flabby triceps.

I remember how I could hardly wait to be in your presence,
instead of hurrying to a committee meeting, or to find the best seat,
or to ”do” the acts of being a Christian – I could just BE a Christian.

I remember when your Word left me breathless,
answering the myriad of questions that inflicted my soul.

I remember when I spent more time in your Word than I did in front of the TV, more time in prayer than shopping.

I remember when Your opinion of my lifestyle was enough to impact my choices.

Help me Lord to return to you, my one true love.
Help me to find that freshness of heart that I once had,

Catch me by surprise with your presence,
Lord, help me to get out of the way, that you may magnify yourself in my life again.

Forgive me for ever taking you for granted,
For minimizing you demonstration of your love for me at calvary.

Forgive me for turning a blind eye to the needy,
And a deaf ear to the cry of the afflicted.

Cleanse my heart, my God, and return my feet to the path of righteousness.
May my spirit delight anew in loving you,
Precious Savior
