In composing this article, I am compelled by anger and frustration to be "conditioned" in compliance to societies ever changing trends. I too was targeted of whom I term 'bashers' in my tender years. To be "different" was to be ostracized and observed as a felon.
As time calloused my hide, I became aware of my aboriginal friends that suffered from that same plight. "In my studies, I fathomed the on going conflict among Roman Catholics and Protestants, regressed into mud slinging to this very day.
"Later I witnessed the gay crowd, (yes they are people also;) become the recipient of "gay bashing," only to fuel the fires of gay rights.
Proceeding as a young man I became aware to heed societies ever wandering standards, only to harbor rebellion within my heart.
As years (progressed)? being baptized as a believer, the church crowd deemed me as an "untouchable", being an ongoing cigarette smoker.
"Later in dealing with a disability I was confronted by well meaning Christians that rehearsed, "If you don't work you don't eat." Did I obtain my disability papers from a Cracker Jack box?
Coupled with my own misfortunes, presented by society and church I am even more empathetic towards people who are the victim, I term as 'bashing.
"Have I not been indoctrinated in a faith that once preached "judge the sin , not the sinner" and... "judge the sin , not the motives."Why then am I severed from church and what prompted me expose myself in this fashion?
It is not for the sake of the new bashers target - "The Evangelicals?" Undeniably, undesirable elements have crept into our churches. However, I now beseech you "does a man of God, such as Billy Graham deserve our 'bashing? In being so zealous to convey the Gospel he neglected his family duties and negated his own spiritual edification?
In accordance in conveying my rebuttal I petition you anew; did 'bashing' a person or faith ever produce fruition? Each one of us at one time broke God's laws. Should we all be cast out of our churches? In respects to society, should we all be incarcerated?
Don't be astonished when we one day we as Christians are at the receiving end of the world's 'bashing'. We certainly schooled the world well.All the more, we need an old-fashioned Holy Ghost revival!
Above all beloved, God's Word is eternal. We should never compromise the gospel to conform to society's ever-wandering ways. In doing so, we shall never be compelled to kiss the emperors ring.
