Have you ever played hide-and-seek when you were a kid? Remember the excitement you felt once you found the person who was trying to hide from you? All the searching you had to do. Looking in corners, under beds, behind chairs, doors, and in the bushes. Sometimes your playmates were very hard to find. They would be hidden in the most unlikely of places; areas that you wouldn’t think to look for someone. Then other times…it was really easy. You could see a little glimmer of color from their shirt peeking through the curtain, their foot sticking out from beneath the covers of a bed. Sometimes you wouldn’t have to look hardly at all; because you could hear the soft little giggles as your footsteps came closer to where they were hiding. Awe! The fond memories we have of that game!

Did you know that God loves hide-and-seek too? Not in a sneaky or destructive way. He loves to hide His hidden treasures deep within you. Just bursting with excitement; waiting for you to realized them! No one truly understands all the gifts God has placed within us, until we come to Him and allow Him to reveal them to us. He does this as we begin to grow through the years. As our minds and spirits expand with the knowledge of God, we learn His will for us and why we were placed on this earth. He reveals His treasures through our desires, dreams and hopes that we have for our future. He reveals them through the talent and skills that He places within each of us, to be a blessing as we reach out to others.

The day you were born, God whispered into your parent’s ears. “See the little gifts that I have given you? They are so dear and special to me. So innocent. So pure. Watch as each passing day goes by, I will begin to reveal the gifts and talents that lie within them. Awe! The joyful pleasures you will experience as you watch their dreams take shape and character form within their precious souls.”

As you begin to grow and come to understand whose you are; the desires and dreams within you begin to bloom, like a tender blossom on a newly formed bud. Hear God whispering in your ear…”I’ve put these dreams and desires in your heart to accomplish my will and plans for your life. Go ahead…there’s nothing to fear. Step out and find out what I can do through you, as the adventures of your life begin to unfold!”

When you become of age to understand your need for a Lord and Savior. You can hear God whisper; ”Go ahead…I’m right here…by your side. I will never leave you; nor forsake you. You can trust me with your life. Seek Me and you shall find Me, if you will seek me with your whole heart.”

God delights in giving us the desires of our heart. He even cares for the littlest thing that concerns us. Sometimes the answers are hidden in packages we don’t expect. An unexpected package may come in the mail. If you listen carefully, you can hear God giggle in anticipation of your joyful surprise! It may come as an unexpected pay raise at work, or an unexpected discount at a department store. You may find yourself behind someone who will turn to give you an extra coupon that they didn’t need.

He’ll give you favor with someone in a traffic jam. Favor as a grocery store clerk opens up a checkout and motions that you can be the first in line. Favor to win a contest that you entered. Or favor to get the job over someone else, whom had more credentials.

Yes… God loves to play hide-and-seek too. He delights to watch as His children shout with glee, as they get that long awaited dream. To find something hidden deep within a closet, that had been lost for years and thought never would ever be recovered.

Yes… God loves to play hide-and-seek too. He seeks those who are lost, so they can be found. He goes after those that are hidden in darkness; to reveal His everlasting light and love to them. He beckons those to seek Him. For He says…”Ask and it shall be given; seek and ye shall find; knock and the doors will be opened…”

Yes… God loves to play hide-and-seek too. For He knows that we will soon find all the hidden treasures within us. And that my friend…makes God a happy daddy!
