What an experience to watch,
Bob & Martha and their crew,
Band the hummingbird’s at Jean’s place,
Such an amazing thing to view.

There’s no doubt in my mind,
Not that there was before.
But it has been confirmed again,
Now I believe it even more.

God created the hummingbird,
In His infinite wisdom for sure.
Gave them the strength and courage,
And the knowledge to endure.

How else could you explain,
That from day one they know,
The path they need to take,
To where they need to go?

Explain to me how then,
That somehow they survive,
The thousands of miles and elements,
And still manage each year to arrive,

At the same place, in the same order,
Some the same exact day.
That can’t be “just coincidence”,
Which is what some might try to say.

These banders have a passion
For these little birds so small,
But it was obvious I think,
That we are all in awe.

Of this little creature small but feisty,
It’s amazing what they can withstand.
Another miracle in my book,
Made by God’s hand.

And Bob is a walking encyclopedia.
His knowledge he loves to share.
He has an enormous heart for hummers.
It’s obvious that he cares.

He also cares and loves,
Those that love them too.
Bob and Martha’s compassion for others,
Always shines through.

So I thank you all from my heart,
For being patient with me.
Allowing me to capture these jewels,
On camera for all to see.

And maybe someday,
Someone I know,
Will say I remember back when,
A long time ago,

Someone showed me pictures,
That stole my heart away,
That started my love of hummers,
From that very first day.

So let this be a reminder,
Of the legacy you’ve started.
Drawing in so many you’ve met,
Whose love for hummers is whole-hearted.

And in these little birds,
Let God’s lessons come through.
Like no matter what you look like,
Big or small, God loves you too.

And He’ll give you what you need,
To get you to where you need to go.
And no matter what obstacles,
You must keep fighting on you know.

So your legacy is not just one,
That science can understand.
It’s one that involves gifts He gives,
And the works of His hand.

We keep you in our prayers,
As we thank the Lord for you.
And ask that He keep you safe,
And bless you all in what you do.
