We are in the middle of the great marathon of life Christian friends. We have already begun to run determined to make the best of this life following the ways of the Lord Jesus Christ. To reach our goals, to achieve, to achieve the reward waiting for us we must stay focused on Christ and depend on Him 24/7 to bring us to the finish line of life.

So how are you doing? Have you been beaten down, have you fallen and needed to be picked up? Are you depending on the Lord and not on your own abilities to achieve the goals set before you? Are you being the person the Lord has called you to be; centered on living for God and riding life of the old nature that seeks to "have it all" and "be above all" at any cost. LOOK - do you see who waits for us at the finish line? Do you realize He is there for you to help you every moment of the day and to deliver you safely across the finish line of life into the Kingdom of God?

Look at this Scripture -

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.” – 1 Corinthians 9:24-27


The Christian life is a marathon ...sometimes we walk briskly, sometimes we run, sometimes we stop and rest, sometimes we can crawl on our hands and knees but one thing is certain; we who know Christ will finish first in the race we have to run. We must run with determination and knowing that the person who has faith in Christ lives differently than the rest of the world. We live for Christ, setting aside selfishness, laying aside sinful behaviors and quests and we seek to live a lifestyle more pleasing to our Father God. We know that Christ will not allow us to fail when we stay focused on Him.

We mus set our eyes and look toward eternity. Focus on Christ alone, not to this thing or that thing, which will lead you away from God. Eyes on Christ who is the greatest prize of all. He is th only One who offers us forgiveness and provides us with hope, even when we have messed up our lives and feel there is no hope for us. Christ can pump new life and new hope into our messed up lives and free us from the grasp sin has had over us. We have been set free, by faith, to run our race knowing that Christ has come and freed us from the death grip sin has had on our lives.

We are free to reach for the goals set before us by being less like we were, overflowing with restless, selfishness, inflated pride and egos, and always putting others down to lift ourselves up - and we can accept the forgiveness Christ alone gives to those who will believe. We can live a peaceful, productive, and meaningful life that shows how the Lord has changed our lives if only we will have faith and stay true to the Lord. We are put on a new attitude (like our running shoes) and we strive to live an unselfish, humbly, quiet, respectable and responsible lives that pleases God and give us joy that few people ever know.

Christ has freed us from the yoke of slavery to sin and has loosened the grasp the devil had around our throats. the devil is real, but he no longer holds any claim on us as we turn our backs on his destructive ways and give our lives to Christ. We are free and at peace to run with God the rest of our lives. We are going to win the crown of life Christ offers, we have already won it when we accept Christ as Lord and Savior and God awaits for us in eternity because we belong to Jesus Christ.
