"Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him." (Proverbs 30:05)
This is the foundation of faith--to trust that what God says is TRUE. Not just "sorta right" but absolutely, accurately, flawlessly true. The first trick of the devil was to raise the question with Grandmother Eve as to whether what God said was really true. In fact, the serpent suggested that it was not true. Eve believed a lie, and mankind plunged into sin. Believing God and His word will keep you from a lot of trouble in your life. His word is truly a shield, keeping a multitude of problems away from you when you do as the LORD instructs. When you can’t figure out what you should do, when you don't know which course in life to take, turn to the LORD, and follow his instruction (hint: it is in the Book). In that refuge you will be safe.
