Encouragement

It seems that almost every time I open my Bible lately, I am led to verses that remind me that our Lord is a refuge; He is a stronghold. This is no accident or coincidence. I believe many things get chalked up to "coincidence" that are actually God; His way of being anonymous, I suppose.

Our God is so mighty that He can choose to send a rushing, forceful wind to knock us off of our feet to get our attention. Or He can shower us with tiny drops of blessings that we may not even realize, until hindsight affords us the vision, were Him.

We are going through difficult times, as a world, as a nation, as a state, as a community, as families; and what better time for Him to reassure us that He is there? What better time to remind us that He is the rock, and that He is a refuge, a sanctuary, a safe haven where we can run and be shielded from the cruelty of this world.

Psalm 9:9-10 (NIV) says:

The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.
Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.

I love those verses, especially where it says, “..you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you”. When God uses the word “never”, He means “never”! He will never forsake, abandon, or desert those who seek Him! Does it say you have to be perfect, unbroken, and self-righteous to not be forsaken by Him? No, be comforted in the knowledge that He will never forsake you if you seek Him.

So seek Him, you who are broken. Seek Him, you who are imperfect. Seek Him, you who are unsure of the next step to take.

Be open with Him. Be honest with Him, He can handle it. May I encourage you today to seek God as you never have before? And may He show Himself to you in ways you never dreamed.
