Worship
They stand in the clarity of valley's first light
knees loosened
heads bowed
eyes closed
facing sunrise over the south-east bench.
Steam rises from sway backs like
prayers of the faithful in a
black poplar cathedral.
Trail weary travellers
worship early morning rest.
