Splish, Splash I was taking a bath……

What are you bathing in? Are you “cleaning” yourself with the word of God?
Do you daily “soak” in the waters flowing from Heaven?
We make sure that we take baths, keep our outward appearance neat and we take time to make ourselves look good, makeup, hairdo, clothes etc.
What about our inside? Do we take time daily to make that look good?
Psalm 51:2
Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.

Without our daily “bath” in God’s word, we have no strength, we open ourselves up to the attacks of the enemy, we become defenceless. Satan waits for such a time as this, he sees a crack and moves on in.
Psalm 1:1,3
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water.

Without our daily “bath” in God’s presence, we are like ships lost at sea, no directions to find our way home.
Psalm 42:1
As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.
Are we panting after God?

Without our daily “bath” in God, we stink. Unconfessed sin starts to fester and instead of cleaning our wounds and letting them heal, it starts to infect our thoughts and our souls.
Psalm 51:7
Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me and I will be whiter than snow.

Without our daily “bath” with God, without prayer and His presence, our water may dry up. Our souls get dry and thirsty, we have no strength to keep on; there is no fight in us.
Psalm 63: 1
O God You are my God, earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You, my body longs for You, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

Without our daily “bath” with God, we may start to look and smell like trash. Our aroma may not be pleasing to others or to God. How is your aroma? Is it pleasing or offensive?
Psalm:51:10
Create in me a clean heart O God and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
The Message Bible:
Psalm 51:
Don’t throw me out with the trash, or fail to breathe holiness in me.

Let us be like Peter in John as Jesus was washing his feet;
John 13:8-9
Jesus answered” unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”
“Then Lord,” Simon Peter replied,” not just my feet but my hands and my head as well”.
Wash us O God.

As we daily bathe in the presence of God, and get clean through His word, let Him wash away the dirt and filth of this world. Let us stand before Him, cleansed, a sweet aroma to His nostrils.
