Psalm 132:13-14 NIV – “the Lord has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling, ‘This is My resting place forever and ever. Here I will sit enthroned for I have desired it.”

The Bible speak of two mountains – Mt Sinai and Mt Zion. Sinai is where God gave the law to Moses and gave His commands to His people. He descended on the mountain in power and all the people were afraid of Him (Exodus 19:16-25&20:18-21). But Mt Zion is where God has built His holy city – the eternal city of righteousness – and God came to Mt Zion in mercy and full of grace and love (Hebrews 12:18-24). God has always desired to dwell with His people. He walked with Adam and Eve in the garden, He dwelt in the tabernacle and later the temple to be with His chosen people, Israel, He walked among us again on this earth in the person of Jesus Christ who came to prove God’s desire for us once and for all by dying to secure for us forgiveness and eternal relationship to God who dwells with us and in us through His Holy Spirit and will one day take us home to be with Him forever (John 14:1-3). God wants to be at home with us and within us and He desires to share with us His rest, His peace, and the joy of His presence. What an amazing God we have that He would love us like this! Let Him be at home and enthroned in Your heart and life for He desires it and He alone deserves it.

Let us pray, “Almighty God, we are so amazed at the way You love us. While we still sinners Christ died for us (1 Pet. 3:18). Even before the creation of the world You set Your love on us (Ephesians 1:4-6). Lord, may You be at home with us and in us for forever. In all of life, help us to keep our eyes on Jesus the author and perfector of our faith (Heb. 12:1-2), and help us to remember Your promise to never leave us or abandon us(Heb. 13:5). May we do everything by the empowering of Your Holy Spirit and remembering that You are always here with us every moment. Help us to live for You every day of our lives and to become worthy of the life to which You have called us (2 Thess. 1:11). For the sake of Your great name and in Your name we pray. Amen.
