Testimonies
I love reading and for several years I buried myself in books. I thought that if I could keep myself busy enough, and preoccupied enough, I'd be able to ignore God calling to me. But the more I ignored His calling, the more miserable I became, and the more miserable I became the more miserable my family became.
During those years, I didn't ignore God Himself, but I selectively listened to Him. It doesn't work. But thank God, He is persistent! Through a series of events that only God could orchestrate, I began to crack. Out of desperation, and disgust with myself, I finally threw up my hands and said, "Ok, God. If You want me to write, I'll write. But it sure would help if I had a writing group like my sister has a quilting group." Within days, God led me to Faithwriters and reminded me of what I'd said to Him. Without stopping to think about what I was doing, I joined Faithwriters. I even printed out their page on 'How to make the most of this site' and went down the list, checking off each item as I did it.
God is forever faithful. He sent me affirmation after affirmation and encouragement upon encouragement, leaving me no doubt that I was in the right place and doing the right thing. My Faithwriters friends became family to me, alternating between cheering me on and prodding me. God has me on a journey that continually surprises me and I'm excited by what He's doing in my life.
Since joining Faithwriters almost a year-and-a-half ago, my family has experienced the benefits of having a mom who is no longer trying to selectively listen to God. There is much more peace and harmony in our home as I seek to follow God's leading. My spiritual life is growing deeper and I'm excited to see God working in me, changing me into a daughter He can use.
Being a part of Faithwriters has helped me continually improve my writing, but even better, Faithwriters has given me the courage to follow God's leading and give my writing to Him so He can use it as He wants.
Finding and joining Faithwriters was a turning point in my life. Getting involved with the community and participating in the Weekly Challenge, and even more, interacting on the boards, multiplied the blessings and benefits. It's the people that make this a wonderful site-a site that God uses.

Wonderful piece! There is no better place to be than in the center of God's will. And it's there that we find the peace we are looking for and the satisfaction of soul! Thank you for sharing this with us!
Very well written, and interesting, with a message for us all...Put God first and other things just fall into place. I talk about "priorities", but the FIRST priority is GOD. If only we would remember that. You did, and you are reaping the benefits....Thanks for the message to the heart...Helen
You have a wonderful comment about doing God's will. I also love the phrase, "selectively listening." It seems when God does call us, we simply have no choice--and it turns out to be the choice that is the only one to make us happy! Keep writing
Great testimony! We all need to listen to God's direction. Your writings are very enjoyable. Thanks!
