As the New Year starts, I have sat and reflected on where I am and where I want to be. What does the New Year have in store for me? Where will God lead? But all I hear from God is "Abide in Me". God is calling us to a deeper, more intimate walk with Him. He desires a relationship with us.

Please read John 15:1-8. In verse 1, Jesus calls himself the True Vine, and God is the Vine dresser (gardener). We are the branches. "Every branch in me" refers to our deep abiding relationship with Jesus. "Takes away" mean to lift up or promote growth. So this verse tells us that you are in Jesus through a relationship with Him and you will be lifted up to promote spiritual fruitful growth. Being pruned is removing bad spots, bugs and disease. This cleansing is done through the word of God.

2. God= Vinedresser
3. Christians = branches

God prunes and takes care of the whole vine. Are you with me on this??

In verse 4, it states, "Abide in me and I in you". Abide means to dwell, to stay, to sink deeper, to settle.

"To Dwell" means reside, put your belongings in, feel at home.

"To stay" means don't leave, don't go anywhere.

"To settle" means relax.

"To sink deeper" means to be immersed, covered up in.

So if we truly want to have a closer relationship with God then we must do these things. What can you do to do these things? It takes action on our part. We need to read, study and pray like we have never done before.

Let's make a decision to abide and seek God in a way that we never have before.
