They Don’t

They don’t notice me, so I can get away
They don’t notice me, so I can stay.
I can do what I want,
When I want.
But there is a problem.
They don’t notice my mischief,
They don’t notice my antics,
They don’t notice my need
To be noticed.

This is sad! A cry to be noticed, I would say. It is this type of people who slip through the cracks of society, often ending up being write-offs, cast-offs--drifters, or even worse, taking their own lives out of desperation for recognition. But for the grace of God, there go any of us. Thanks for your short, to-the-point poem...God bless you....Helen
