Larry Lilly's Letter Wednesday June 25, 2008

The Old Indian living in half of me is rising up yet again, on the matter of unrestrained immigration. As mentioned before, we (American Indians) failed to establish reasonable limits to our program for immigration and now, for the most part, we live in small clusters of deprivation known as Reservations, the descendents of immigrants deeming these parcels of misery to be better than genocide, though this was not always the case.

I got to thinking along these lines while again reading "Caesar and Christ," penned in 1944 by Will Durant. Mr. Durant wrote:

"Rome was conquered by barbarian multiplication from within, rapidly breeding Orientals were mostly of a mind to destroy that culture; the Romans possessing it, sacrificed it to the comforts of sterility."

That our nation currently mirrors the declining days of the Empire is undeniable. We are swamped on a daily basis with vast swarms of immigrants that have no intention of becoming Americanized, but rather bring with them the determination to impose the culture from whence they come upon unsuspecting or willingly ignorant Americans.

As the Great Blonde read today's letter she said, "You know Larry, we had better turn to the scriptures or start learning the Quran." This girl is smart.

I was struck by Durant's comment on "the comforts of sterility." Here my child is a phrase pregnant with meaning for our time. The media recently has published several articles on one of the founding principles of Planned Parenthood, which was the slow genocide of the blacks, called back then Negro. To accomplish this birth control and population control, abortion was the method of choice. Of course the method leaped over the fence of ethnic divide, and now we have, as do the Oriental's, a family defined as a husband, wife and one and half children. I was child number five, so I am against any number less than five as some Ninnie will certainly come up with legislation for post birth abortion for all who were born after the ½ child. I do know of several people who were born with only ½ of a certain part of their anatomy.

One of the marks of compassion demonstrated by the early church was the rescuing of abandoned infants from the alleys and trash heaps of the Empire. That abortion was rampant in the declining days of Rome is matter of history. Of course such practice was legal back then.

I know someone will ask; "Dr. Lilly, do wish for abortion to be outlawed?" My answer always surprises such people and infuriates my fellow clergy who think law can somehow create superior humans. My answer, "We must through Christ become a moral people who recognize the sanctity of all life, a people who are appalled at the idea of snuffing out a life for mere convenience. This belief must come from within." Back in the early days of my ministry a couple came to my office and the wife somberly announced, "Pastor Lilly, we are going to have another baby." The husband huffed, "There goes our new car! Pastor, what do you think about abortion?" Ah, the comforts of Roman sterility.
