Overheard in the Family Home

“Won't you kneel down by my side,
My sweet and lovely bride?
We will thank God for our home
And ask Him to abide.”

“I am sorry, Husband Dear;
I burned the beans again.
I so want to learn to cook,
But I am not sure I can.

I had hoped the meal was good
Because I've news for you.
You are going to be a dad
And such a good one, too.”

“My dear, these little ones of ours
Require so much care.
I don’t know how you get things done;
They’re such an active pair.”

“Do you know where my homework is?
I think I’ve missed the bus,
I’m sorry, Mom, that Sis and I
Had such an awful fuss.”

“The coffee table is no place
For you to put your feet.
Clean up the mess you made in here
And try to keep things neat.”

“Please, Daddy, may I take the car
To go out on a date?
I promise I will drive real slow
And won’t stay out too late.”

“Thanks, Mom and Dad, for all you did
To help us graduate.
We’re glad you’re here with us today
To help us celebrate.”

“I can’t believe the last one’s gone
With you and me still here.
Our home’s had so much happiness,
God’s blessed us richly, Dear.”
