Poetry
In a place far away,
In a time long past,
A writer was given
An arduous task.
For the King had chosen
This scribe for His plan
To reveal the King’s heart
To those in His land.
The servant was humbled;
His King he adored.
He was determined to do
His best for his Lord.
So he fashioned a plan
With great thought and prayer,
Of all he must include
The King’s love to share.
He left on a journey
That took him away.
And the poet was gone
For many a day.
"I’ll start with His family,
I’ll tell of His past,
Trace all His ancestry
The first to the last."
"I’ll speak of their honor,
Their struggles and fears,
With my prose I will bring
The women to tears."
"I’ll recite for the men
The battles of yore,
With images that leave them
Longing for much more."
"And then," mused the author,
"To the wisest of men,
I will trace a path
‘Till it reaches an end."
"To parlay their thoughts,
Their wisdom and lore,
So all men stand in awe
Of the King we adore."
"Then to Kings far and wide
I will make a quest,
To discover from them
What makes ours the best."
So for years upon years
The writer was gone,
‘Till finally the time came
That he returned home.
His research was finished;
His task yet remained:
To publish his facts,
And to reap his acclaim.
The treatise was perfect,
In function and form,
And the writer knew
He had done as he’d sworn.
With calm and cool steps,
He sought his sovereign King;
To receive his prize
For what he had to bring.
"Who are you?" asked the Lord.
"I know not your face.
You are not my servant;
Begone from this place."
The moral of this fable:
Our gift comes from above,
We have but one purpose….
Share the Father’s love.
