The First Question Asked
The first question presented in Scripture
Polluted Eden with a grim picture.
The discussion regarding what to eat
Was carried out with a tongue of deceit.
Adam and Eve had first received
A crafty invite to being deceived.
Dealings with the subtil serpent
Brought about swift defilement.
A dishonest relationship thus begun
While the grounds wept at the damage done.

God, the Creator of all things, knew all and saw all before anything ever took place. His blessed Sovereignty! Upon reading the scripture verse, I immediately thought of
Jesus answered them, " Did I Myself not choose you, the twelve, and yet one of you is a devil?" John 6:70 (When Jesus was asked about Judas Iscariot ...)
By God's wonderful grace, the serpent was created by God and put in the garden to do His bidding. God knew us as intimately and knew the choices we would make for ourselves and knowing we would choose death He paved the way back to Himself through the Garden ...
...for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. I John 3:8
We often look at the Garden of Eden and remember the curse that befell us as a result of our disobedience and sin, when what we should remember that by God's mercy and grace He was only being the Father Who loves us so much He would sacrifice His only begotten Son so we would not have to die in our sin. Thank you, Julie, for using your precious way with words to get my spiritual juices flowing and lead me to my knees in awesome praise of our Father, God!
