Oh, what a feeling, to be so loved
And thought of. . . In a special way
Coupled with, such great pride
To be “Honored” on Father’s Day

Words couldn’t express, the feeling
That stirred . . . Deep, within my soul
With each new birth, of my children
I felt such a man, I felt so whole . . .

When my children run to embrace me
Or maybe ask, for a helping hand
Just simply, climbing upon my knee
As their Father, I understand. . .

God placed me at the head, to guide
And to be there for them, everyday
With faithful parents at their side
They’d not have the urge. . .To stray

So, I appreciate this responsibility
To Father, and watch over my own
To love, nourish. . .And oversee
Each one, until they are fully grown

But, no. . . It doesn’t stop there
For the love surely continues on
Leaving their nest, will cause me fear
As I watch them mature, and go on

For I hope the love, embedded
Brings them home again, to me
Many sacrifices, I never dreaded
Love, and patience, was the key

So, today as I am celebrated
And showered with so much love
I thank my God, in Heaven. . . .
Who blesses each Father, from above!
