To smell fresh air and watch billowing clouds
like cotton against the blue sky,
or see the leaves in the tree-tops sway
as the breezes of summer gust by;
these simple joys so often dismissed
animate the fabric of life.
If we fail to note such simple joys,
we're bound to fall victim to strife.

The colors woven in Fall's tapestry
so profoundly unique in design,
can overwhelm the dark of gloom
and add beauty to the passing of time.
If these simple things don't capture our notice…
…if we fail to view them with awe…
we can sink in the murky gray of self-focus,
fixating on life's every flaw.

So, set your heart's determination
before life's years speed away,
to always take note of these simple joys
and cherish every new day.
Rise with purpose and greet each new dawn
alert and attune to life's song
for the simple joys enhance our spirits,
and encourage us ever along.
