Our memory is a wonderful thing,
All the thoughts we store inside;
That a spoken word will remembrance bring,
Like a message borne on an unseen wing;
Our mind transcends time's great divide.

Someone spoke to me just the other day
Of a place I'd long forgot,
And suddenly, as if I had pressed "replay"
My thoughts flew back to a bygone day;
I returned to that cherished spot.

There, was Dad and I, walking hand in hand,
Searching for the lambing ewes;
A silver frost sparkles o'er the land,
Forbidding ghostly shadows stand,
Cast by the moon's insipid hues.

In reassuring words Dad spoke to me
Of Almighty God above;
That everything my human eye could see
Bears witness to His majesty,
Speaks of His everlasting love.

His instruction stayed with me through the years
Despite many trials I've had;
Though God's truth has been challenged by my peers,
My faith in God has persevered:
Thank You Lord, for the memory of Dad!!
