Zacchaeus, a man of short stature,
Climbed high in a sycamore tree
To get a bird's-eye view of Jesus,
Whom in heart he was anxious to see.

Jesus came and stopped right below him;
He asked him to hurry on down;
Zacchaeus received Him with gladness;
The people of Jericho frowned!

In their eyes, this man was a sinner,
A rich man they sorely despised;
Now Jesus had offered him favour;
This was not right, they surmised.

That Zacchaeus got saved seems certain;
He repented the evil he'd done,
Promised to restore what he'd stolen:
Redemption, through Jesus had come.

What a marvellous hope here declared,
Where this wonderful meeting took place!
For Jesus is seeking out sinners,
Not willing one misses His grace!

All glory and praise to our Father,
Whose Word is a treasure of gems,
Where all can encounter Christ Jesus,
And be forever forgiven their sins.
