Why Won’t You Believe
You Don’t Have To See

In a man’s life, at some point Jesus has been pronounced to him. Rather he believes is up to him. Everything in life does not have to be seen by the eye to be believed by man. We know that life began at some point and we know that life ends in the earth at some point. We don’t know why we come to be and why we cease to be but we do know that we don’t have to see it; we just know that it is. Just as we know Jesus, we don’t see him but we know that he is and is a reward to them that diligently seek him. The reward is Eternal Life.

Now can you be found doing what it is you profess to believe? Jesus came into the world and is coming again is something that we have heard since we were old enough to remember; yet we have not seen him. What can we hear of you? What have you heard of Jesus? We have heard many things but do not believe because it has not happened yet.

The Queen Sheba is the most celebrated queen of all queens mentioned in the Bible because of her visit to Jerusalem in the time of Solomon. She came for one reason and one reason only and that was to prove Solomon with hard questions that she thought he would not be able to address. She also thought she would align herself with a commercial treaty between her country and Jerusalem. Queen Sheba was so overcome that there was no spirit left in her. She was more impressed with his wisdom than anything else that her eyes could see. II Chronicles 9:5-6, and she said to the King, it was a true report; which I heard in mine own land of thine acts and of thine wisdom. How be it I believed not their words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it; and behold the one half of the greatness of thy wisdom was not told me for their exceeds at the fame that I heard.

Again I ask, what can we hear of you?

Now Solomon the son of David and Bathsheba was only a teenager when David died. David had chosen Solomon to be King over all his other brothers, for they also wanted to be King and rightfully so. David was more concern with the will of God being done so and he chose the right son to carry the work that God had begun with David. Many times today because someone is younger than another, people will label that person that they are not old enough for certain work needing to be done. It is God that qualifies man for a work in his kingdom and not man. God always have a qualified person that will recognize and realize that the ability is there.

Solomon had wisdom, prudence and discretion; knowing what to do or say, when, where, why, and how to deal with whatever situation that would arise with God’s people. In
II Chronicles 1:10, Solomon asked God for his wisdom in leading his people. Solomon could have asked God for fleshly wisdom, the wisdom of man that asks selfishly for things. He was young, but he increased in wisdom as he grew in the things of God. Solomon also had the supervision needed being aided by his mother and Nathan the Prophet. Wisdom was the special gift of Solomon’s life. His judgment showed his knowledge of human nature and he had high ideas early in life but he brought idolatry into Israel by marrying strange women. He had wisdom but he did not get an understanding that he could not have and take everything that was offered to him.

He was however right in his choice to ask God for wisdom to lead his people. We must be careful for what we ask God for. II Chronicles 1:11-12, God answered Solomon’s prayer. He blessed him more over for his unselfishness, he did not ask for anything of himself but for the people, wisdom and knowledge rather than wealth, honor, riches, long life or the for the lives of his enemies.

Do you speak wisely? The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom and his tongue talks of judgment. The tongue of the just is as choice silver. Solomon spoke wisely, he showed wisdom, some of which we today live by. Solomon’s name means peaceful

Jesus is the source of our knowledge guided in our living. Unlike Solomon Jesus lived what he taught and preached. His disciples heard him speak and they saw him do wonderful works, they felt his power and came to recognize the truthfulness of his claims about himself, they overcame much that hindered their beliefs which hindered their apprehension of Jesus as Christ’s work and him the person.

Is God worthy of the choice you made to follow him? How do you show him how much you appreciate him being a choice in your life? Are you like the disciples that looked for a political messiah who would deliver them from the Roman yoke? Do you do what he says, the lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for want of wisdom. The tongue of the wise uses knowledge, not foolishness. Do you live what he says to live?

Is your heart one that carries his desires in it? If not it is of little worth because the wise in heart is one that will be called prudent and the wicked heart is of little worth according to the Bible.

Do you possess a mind that speaks the Word out of hard times? Are your acts in every aspect of your life pleasing to God? Are you more willing to do His will than your own? He that have knowledge spares his words and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit. Even a fool when he holds his peace is counted wise and he that shuts his lips is esteemed a man of understanding. Jesus did not say a word when he was accused and persecuted by man. He knew for what reason he came into the world and for what reason he would die, to be that final blood sacrifice to redeem man back to His Father once and for all.

It was not until after Jesus died that the disciples came under the power of the Holy Spirit and then they were able to understand fully the spiritual nature of the Kingdom of God. Why do men try to go in the name of the Lord without first making a choice to crucify their fleshly nature so that they may receive the Holy Ghost, the Sanctifier? It is the Spirit that will strengthen man against the ails of the flesh. Did the disciples have shortcomings, yes, but they overcame them. We know that Jesus possessed the wisdom of God, being God in the flesh he had to use the elements of the earth as a source of his work, both seen and written.
There were eyewitnesses to tell people much about him, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Once a person chooses to make up their mind to read these accounts they can learn of Jesus whom they believe on.

If one cannot or will not believe that God is superior to the universe made by Him, he will have trouble with the miracles wrought by Jesus and with the miracles of Jesus. But if one believes in a personal God who loves sinful men, and who sent his own son to save them from sin, everything else follows easily. Mention was made three times of the absence of a prophet in Israel who could tell the people the will of God, the promise of a messiah being made repeatedly but he did not come. The hope rose and fell time and time again, but when he did come they did not believe just as today. Jesus is coming and no one knows the time, but you can be prepared for his return.

You don’t have to see, but believe. Why won’t you believe?
