As I sat immersed in photos, my heart grew sad and lonely. The brokenness was returning with each lingering look at the snapshots of my mom. She looked so happy and healthy. To think that she was no longer with me was incomprehensible.

It had been a little over a year since her sudden death from a brain aneurysm; yet, the longing for her had not disappeared. She had been my "go to" girl. She was the one who always listened to me and gave my plenty of advice...even when I didn't want it. She encouraed me, comfortd me, accepted me, and loved me. At this point in my life, I really needed her to tell me what to do, how to handle these problems, and how to get out of this hole that we were in.

Because of a failed business and my husband's drug addiction which had steamrolled far beyond my realization, we were sinking...and quickly. Our bills weren't paid, the grocery budget was growing smaller, and peace as we had known it had left our home. Our home had not become an angry place. There was just wasn't any enjoyment anymore because of the many burdens. My mom would have known what to do about these things. I was desperate for a hands-on intervention.

Then it happened in a most unexpected way...the personal intervention that I had longed for. My precious little girl, nearly a year old, looked me in the eyes, and with a smile, wrapped her tiny arms atound my neck. In that moment, God used an everyday hug from my daughter to remind me of His great love for me and His presence in my life. He sees, He cares, and He responds with the perfect act to comfort a broken heart.

"Yes, I have loved you with an everylasting love, therefore, with lovingkindness I have drawn you" Jeremiah 31:3
