Sally sat twisting the phone card around her finger. Something she did whenever she was agiitated since childhood, and lately talking on the phone to her Mother made her very agitated. She knew her Mother did things out of love, but she was so overprotective lately. Sally knew her Mother was concerned, but she wanted to make her Mother understand she was going to live her life the way she felt God wanted her to.

" Yes Mom I'm sure, I'm going with the band to make the tape, I feel God is calling me to do this. "

Sally listened to the silence on the other end for a second, almost able to predict what her Mother would say next. Lately their conversations always seemed to revolve around the same thing, Sally over doing it, but Sally didn't feel as if she was overdoing it, she felt as if she was living again.

" You've only been out of the hospital for three weeks, you were in an accident, For petes sake Sally you were paralyzed. "

Sally let out a sarcastic chuckle, as if to tell her Mother that was a ridiculous statement Of course Sally knew this everytime she looked down at her unmoving legs she was reminded of it. She'd spend a long time crying over the fact she would probably never walk again, even lately she often found herself crying over what she had had lost, but she wasn't going to let it stop her from living.

" You think I don't know this Mom? I'm the one sitting here in the wheelchair, but it was my legs that were paralyzed, not my voice. I'm not going to sit around throwing myself a pity party, I've done enough of that already. "

Lord please don't allow me to loose patience, or get angry with her. I know she means well but I need her to see I am capable of living my own life and making my own decissions. Let her see I want to do this tape for your glory Dear Lord, and I am not trying to worry her. Sally prayed while she waited for Her Mother's response.

" I really wish you would take it easy. "

Sally didn't want to take it easy though, she didn't feel that was what the Lord wanted for her and she didnt want that for herself. She wanted to sing for the Glory of God, the Lord was the one who had given her the gift and she was sure she didn't want her to waste it.

Since she was little Sally had a passion for music. In some of the pictures her Mother had, Sally was singing into a hairbrush. The love of music deepend when she gave her heart to the Lord at the age of sixteen. Now over ten years later Sally still felt the touch of the Lord whenver she sang, and knew that singing was her calling in life. She thanked God everyday the car accident hadn't taken that away from her.

" Mom I'm not a piece of glass, I'm not going to break. "

Sally stared down at her lifeless legs, and tried to remember what it was like to simply jump up and do whatever she needed or wanted to do. Now simply getting herself ready for the day was a tiring chore, and in a way if she thought about it, she had broke, like Humpty Dumpty, accept all her pieces were there they just weren't all working.

She wasn't going to dwell on the fact she could no longer walk, that just wasn't the way Sally wanted to live. The lord had blessed her with a beautiful singing voice and she wasn't going to take that for granted by not using the gift to glorify the Lord.

When Sally was in the hospital, she hadn't been able to sing like she wanted, and began to wonder if she would ever sing again Now that she was home she kenw she would sing, and she prayed the music would touch lives and bring soulds to Christ.

" I don't want you hurt. What if there is another accident? "

" Mom pray there's not, you know god listens to our prayers. You need to understand I need to go For the Glory Of God Mom."

Sally's Mother had a hard time arguing with that. She had once rejoiced over her daughters singing, and the possibilty of her going to Southern California to make a tape with the band, but now she worried. Her daughter had been in accident, had been paralyzed and her instinct was to protect Sally, but she couldn't always protect her.

" Mom I'll be okay, I will take care of myself, I promise but I need to do this. "

" I know sweetie, I'm sorry I'm being selfish, I just get afraid that I am going to loose you, they didn't think you would make it when you were first brought into the hospital, after the accident, and that made me realise how easily it is for life to slip away from us. "

" I know Mom and I love you, you have always been there for me. You never left my side when I was in the hospital, and you dried my tears when they told me I would never walk again. I love you Mom but I need to start living my own life again. And I want you to be a part of that life. "

" I will always be a part of your life. "

" Mom would it make you feel better, if I asked you to drivve me down to Southern California? But you would have to promise to let me take care of myself. "

" What if you need help? "

" I promise if I need help I will ask you. But please let me do things myself, I am capable of caring for myself, I do it at home all the time. "

" Okay Sally, and yes I would love to take you, I'm so proud of you sweetie. "

" Thank you Mom. "
