Grief
I was reading a portion of my Good News Bible this morning, as is my custom, and I
opened randomly to a scripture in, Matthew ch. 26- from verses 36. I gasped as
I read and held my breath at verse 37, at the part where it says-
" grief and anguish came over Him-"
I reflected slowly on that portion to drink it in - I let it seep into my emotions-
God's son was overwhelmed in the emotion of- 'grief and anguish!'
What does that feel like I pondered?
He then said, " The sorrow in my heart is so great that it almost crushes
me." so much was His pain that He threw himself on the earth.
Have you ever felt to that depth of despair, that you would be overwhelmed
and crushed in heart with pain and anguish?
I thought deeply about my own pain and suffering that I had experienced in my
life- and how, so much more was it that Christ Jesus was feeling. It was beyond what
I could take in. I again questioned; why?
I understand to a certain degree, from knowing God and His saving grace- that it was
my pain and my suffering and every other human being that has lived on this planet
that He was actually taking their load of grief personally and allowing Satan to exact
His demands on Him so that He, Christ, could win us back to God! And that through
His suffering, we could have Hope now -and also in the after life!
He then said to His father, " My Father if it is possible, take this cup of
suffering from me! Yet not what I want, but what you want."
Ever since I became a born again Christian, I love and devour every word that
has been recorded in what we know as, The Bible. In it I find an answer for every
situation that I have had to face. And I can only say with every fibre in me- Thank
you Jesus for bearing my pain and shame, and for loving me even when I didn't
measure up. I am left with so much love in my heart for a such a self less sacrifice for
me and of course for you too. Thank you for reading, and I do hope Christ can touch
your heart with His marvelous and all encompassing love and that it will transcend
all your pain and suffering too. Cheers, BrendaN

If I may add to the comments about Christ's suffering. I think, too, Jesus knew He would be separated from HIS FATHER FOR A PERIOD OF TIME and that added to his grief and sorrow. Being separated from the one you love the most is a terrible feeling. He had to go into hell alone, defeat satan, preach to the captives that were there and take them out. Yes, we thank HIM for taking the stripes for us and dying in our place. GOD BLESS YOU
