In reaching for a star, a share of glory
That's floated from my grasp a hundred ways
What rules exist, what scales shall judge my progress?
Preventing repetition of past days
When all my efforts, prematurely thwarted
Withheld the slightest measure of success
My being screams, "Oh, why must life elude me;
When with my heart and soul I do my best."

No magic potion, can another offer;
Prescribed to cure the feeling that I've failed,
The will to carry on must find beginnings
In hope and faith, though yet by doubt assailed.
The fight for life must start with, "LIFE IS WORTH IT!"
Then added to this thought, "I WILL SURVIVE!"
It's easy, then, to see the golden sunlight,
And hear myself declare, "I AM ALIVE!"

In reaching for a star...a share of glory

Stretch farther than you've ever risked or dared to;
Fulfillment comes, when with your task you stay.
