Jesus Stood His Ground

[Jesus] came down the hill with them and took his stand on level ground. There was a large concourse (gathering) of his disciples and great numbers of people from Jerusalem. Luke 6:17 NEB

After Jesus chose his twelve apostles, they descended the hill. Moses had received the 10 commandments on Mt. Sinai. Jesus was transfigured on a mountain.

On the mountain we experience true intimacy with God. It is a place of revelation; a remote place where we are alone with God.

Jesus came away from this intimate, remote setting with his freshly chosen “army”. He didn’t stop until he reached the level area and there he stood his ground. This is battle posture. He has his army at his back and immediately engages the enemy, healing all the sick; spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically.

Will I stand my ground against the enemy today, doing battle for the Kingdom?

Lord Jesus, I choose today to stand with you, suited up in Your spiritual armor, standing by Your side ready to fight the enemy with prayer, the Word, a smile or a simple touch. Amen.
