Hourglass of Illusion


Cherished moments of yesterday gone,
lingering in the corridor of our mind,
of people and places for which we long,
constantly fading from footsteps of time.

Hourglass of life trickles with a steady flow,
every grain of sand replaced by yet another,
so much to learn, yet there is little we know,
each unseasoned second passes like no other.

There is a complexity in just simple living,
where our live’s paths cross and intertwine,
not knowing if we should take or keep giving,
whether to stand and fight, run, or sip the wine.

Reflections of night passes to another new day,
leaving us caught in the crossfire of indecision,
never really knowing if we should go or stay,
life is lived from day to day without precision.

Just struggling along we often stumble and fall,
with heads buried in the sand, we’re in the dark,
coming to terms trying to make sense of it all,
to live is so much more than a walk in the park.

Judgements clouded by the decisions we make,
leaves us frazzled in a state of utter confusion,
never knowing what is real and what is fake,
moments pass in the hourglass of our illusion.
