The bottomless pit
Is dark, deep and wide
It swallows the souls
With nowhere to hide

Drawing them further
To depths of despair
Removing the hope
Erasing all care

Engulfing their dreams
Unmasking the pain
To relive the hurt
Again and again

Tormenting the life
And draining the love
Increasing the gap
From our Lord above

The enemy strikes
When we least expect
Unable to fight
He feeds our regrets

He shows us the past
And all our mistakes
He wants to make sure
We won’t take our place

He robs us of joy
And steals all our light
He deafens our ears
And removes our sight

He won’t let us see
The truth that is there
We just cannot hear
The words that were shared

Jesus’ disciples
First hand learned the way
His message of love
Convinced them to stay

They walked beside him
They stood in his grace
They felt his mercy
And witnessed his place

Jesus was destined
To die for our sins
His blood has cleansed us
A new life begins

We are disciples
With him we must walk
We have become priests
Of his word we talk

We fall under grace
And walk in his ways
We have defeated
Our enemy’s ways
