The seventeen year old girl,
Her brunette hair full with curls,
Waiting for her prom date,
An hour later, the girl realizes,
He was late.

The girl's heart grows weak,
Tears flow down from her eyes,
Tears mark the pain on her cheeks,
Her mother hears her duaghter's cries.

Between her daughter's cries,
The mother's heart asks why,
She puts her daughter close to her shirt,
Hating to see her hurt.

"Why did I say yes?" the girl says.
Her mother gazes at the
purple, elegant dress.

The daughter's heart was sore,
To God, she began to implore,
For the handsome man,
She once adored.

A week later, her pains heal,
The daughter's life took a turning wheel,
Her feelings were no longer conceal.

On a night that was starry,
The guy came up to the girl,
He finally said-he was sorry.
