Doing vs Being

The world we live in focuses so much on doing. How much can we accomplish in a day? Can we be successful and reach the top of the career ladder? We are encouraged to work more to make more and to buy more. We have commercials that focus on the world running smoothly if only we use their product, their credit card and their ideas. What happened to simply being present? We get so busy and occupied that we are unable to simply enjoy the moment we are in because we are thinking about what we need to do or where we need to be. I am not sure God wanted us to live in such a chaotic and stress driven life. We have created this life around us and we are responsible for where we are. After all, we want to experience all that life has to offer. I am finding that life is more than what we do and where we go. It is more about our relationships with God, ourselves and our families or loved ones. If we miss out on these opportunities then we are missing out on what life really has to offer. Sometimes it takes saying no to the world around us so that we can spend time with God and with our families. Do you take time daily to spend with God? What is so important in your life that you choose to spend time with rather than choosing to spend time with your family and God. I think this world leads us to believe we need to have different priorities and things get all messed up in our minds. When we change our thinking and put God first, families second, our lives take on a whole new meaning. We don't want to spend so much time doing that we don't have time being with God.

Well said. If we become like Him, then we will "do" like HIm. Love it.
