taxes, My beloved?"

[SLIGHT FROWN.]

"What's 'a matter, NOW?
I thought You'd be
real happy, that I went
to that CLASS, tonight!"

"Did you learn something,
child?"

"Sorta; it was somethin'....
about GRACE?
(Smile up at air vent.)
Paul seemed awfully wordy,
if Ya want MY opinion.
Like I said, the only
Book 'a Yours I really
get is 'Jonah'."

[CHUCKLE.]

"This 'Ephesians' is almost
as confusing as a bunch 'a TAX forms, Lord!
Why did You have to make it so
COMPLICATED?"

"It is about sin,
My beloved."

"So, what's the big DEAL,
anyway; so, none of us
are PERFECT!
So WHAT?"

"It is a big deal,
My child."

"Not to ME!"

[PATIENT PAUSE.]
"Uh uh.
Only to Me."

"I don't know, Lord;
I don't UNDERSTAND?
Yeah, there's the real
BAD guys. But, Ya know,
most of us are just a
bunch 'a bumblers tryin'
to get cat food on the table,
and pay for our GASOLINE.
That's IT!"

[PATIENT NOD.]

"I guess I just don't get the
Big Picture, is all."

"No, My precious."

"This seems to be, like,
the only thing You're
CONCERNED about!"

"Not so, My child."

"Well....it just SEEMS
like that, especially
when you read this
New Book of Yours."

"Who is 'you',
My precious?"

"I don't mean YOU, Lord!
I mean, eh....'you' in the
general sense: all of
us BUMBLERS."

"That is good, My beloved."

"Why, Lord?"

"Cuz, I don't need to
read It.
[OMINOUS PAUSE.]
But, you do."

For He
has made known to us
in all wisdom
and insight
the mystery
of His will,
according to His purpose
which He set forth
in Christ...
[Ephesians 1:9]
