Poetry
(written 9-30-03)
Armed to the hilt with His Father’s word,
He frustrated His enemy’s plan.
In a desert, He stood by that word
which revealed Who His Father was.
A lone warrior, Who wasn’t alone,
concerning His Father’s will.
Misunderstood by those He created,
even those He chose.
Demons couldn’t hold those He freed.
They had to obey His voice.
He provoked fear in those
who sought to possess.
Demons submitted to Him.
He had set a blind man free,
who was ousted by the religious.
Turning about, this man found his Healer,
With renewed eyes,
He saw the Savior
that replaced his religion.
He fed four and five thousand,
with empty hands.
Many sought to make Him king,
for timing’s sake, He refused.
One time, the disciples rowed
while their Lord slept.
Tempest-tossed, they denied the Lord’s care.
He awoke and rebuked the sea,
then He rebuked them for unbelief.
Another time His twelve, without the Lord,
feared the Galilean storm.
He came to them on what they feared most.
He loved them, even while their unbelief
frustrated Him greatly.
Seas stilled before Him.
He confounded men,
when He refused to heal his friend.
After four days,
He found many baffled by His ways.
Yet their bafflement gave way
to a resurrected son of Jacob.
He came to the city of David,
riding a donkey’s colt.
The ruler’s sought the crowd’s silence,
they proclaimed Him king, by His permit.
Stones desired to hail Him.
Forgiving a Harlot,
confounding the Pharisees.
Amazing a Roman Procurator,
Provoking an Idumean king.
His day came, He had waited for it,
a day of mystery and betrayal.
The one He honored sold Him out.
This one despairing, hung himself in remorse.
Led to an illegal trial,
He kept His silence.
He need not answer any man.
Tossed about, mocked and beaten,
He was prepared for the cross’ ignominy.
Day of darkness and gloom,
of blasphemy and humiliation.
This Leader dies a fool’s death,
a criminal’s sentence.
When the world found its Creator,
they had set to murder Him.
His own received Him not.
Three days hence, a victory’s revealed,
along with Victory’s Son.
That Spirit which brought Him to us,
brings Him back to us again.
40 days He tarried to teach
His own once more,
revealing His Father’s control.
Suddenly He’s taken out of their sight,
leaving them to the comfort of angels.
Death could not hold Him.
He comes again, to the lives of those
who are chosen by Him.
He chooses those who would choose Him,
He receives such, without reservation,
not casting them out forever.
Unchanging, unflinching, faithful and true,
the mark and character,
of a magnanimous Lord and Creator.
O Lord, I bow to Your magnanimity,
for in Your joy and victory,
You chose me.
