Lord please send understanding unto me
Lead me in a path that I can plainly see
This old world is such a troublesome place
Trials and tribulations everyday I do face

I plead for a glimpse of your ultimate plan
Remember that I am just a common man
Forgive me for my moments of doubts and fears
I know you have kept me throughout the years

You called me to labor in a very small field
Yet I see the fields are ripe for a worldwide yield
Many lessons you taught me are written on my heart
Lord give me understanding and grace to do my part

Surely O Lord this violent world cannot last long
Let me preach a sermon or sing a spiritual song
To a lost and dying world that needs to know
That you are their friend and not their foe
