Dreams are often fuzzy upon waking, and for me the clearest memories are the emotions that I felt - love, peace, joy. So these are the basics as best I remember them.

The Dream: “God reached out His hand to me inviting me to dance with Him. I took His hand, but as He moved me toward the dance floor, I hesitated. I said to Him, ‘I don’t know the steps.’ He smiled tenderly at me and said, ‘That’s ok, I do.’ Then He whispered in my heart, ‘Just trust Me and let Me lead you through.’ And so I danced with God.”

These are the things I have been reminded of as I pondered this dream. First is this – I don’t have to know the steps that I take in life or even where to go, because He knows and has designed it all. All I have to do is let Him lead me and I will dance beautifully. Through the joy that makes me rejoice and the trials that make me stronger, each one is a step in the dance of His glory. (see Rom. 8:28)

Then I am also reminded that if it is true that He dances with me and I with Him, then He is always with me. Not merely beside me, but He has His arms around me leading me, moving me. Who can take me from His hands or separate me from His love? (John 10:28-30, Rom. 8:35 ) I am never alone and never afraid. I may not always see Him or feel His arms or hear His steps, but I know that He will never leave me (see John 14:15-17). God does not lead us through life like we might lead someone through a maze – going in front, showing the way – even though He did do that. But He leads us through life like one would lead another through a dance – a waltz, with close and constant contact.

In summary: “This world is our dance floor. The steps of the dance are the moments of our life, and Jesus is our dance partner with His arms around us leading us through the dance that God the Father has designed just for us that we might shine just for Him.” ~Dionne Stratton
