“You chart the path ahead of me, and tell me where to stop and rest. Every moment, you know where I am” (Psalms 139:3) The Living Bible

Isn’t it our heart’s desire to know where to walk next? I don’t know anyone who doesn’t want their next days and weeks mapped out so they do not stumble or fall.

It is comforting to know that God has already charted my path, given me stop points along the way and follows me regardless of where I am. He is my guiding light and the more I believe that He leads, the more I will follow a specific road to the destination He has laid out for me.

I remember taking a path that brought tremendous growth as well as incredible heartache. I asked the Lord about that situation one day and He said that He never gave instructions to go that way. Even though I missed His direction for my life temporarily, He brought much good out of the situation to change my heart. I could have avoided the miserable days that I thought I was in God’s will. The drawing close to Him will always be precious in my mind but what did I miss by stepping over into a pathway of destruction?

Don’t we all tend to chart our own course from time to time? I thank God that even in my misguided attempt, He still anchored me with His presence and reined me back to His right-of-way.

PRAYER
Lord, forgive me when I get out of step with You and journey onto a crooked path. You are so kind to bring me back into your steps of grace so that I can march forward on a new and better road, hand in hand with You resting along the way. You are so marvelous to forgive my wrong choices. Amen.
