He Was Thinking of Me

With each blow of pain,
With each humiliating word...
He was thinking of me.

Every agonized step,
Through a sea of angry faces...
Led Him willingly
To the altar of my redemption.

As tears mixed with blood,
Stinging His cheeks as they fell...
His thoughts
Were on the freedom of my soul.

When the sky became dark
And no comfort could be found...
Jesus was laying a foundation for my future.

With His last agonized breath,
Jesus accomplished my forgiveness...
And gave to me the promise
Of life unending.

As the sun arose
Above a quiet tomb...
All of nature stilled to listen.
At the sound of Jesus' feet
Walking into the light of day.

As He arose into the sky,
Angels all around...
He left a Helper for my struggles,
And the truth of His Word...
To strengthen my fragile faith.

For thinking of me, I owe Jesus

My belief...

My trust...

My abilities...

My love...

My devotion...

My life.

Bittersweet. Briefly portraying His death and our life that has come from Him. Since this piece is so short (it need not be longer), about the only thing I would consider changing is the use of "agonized" twice. For those pesky words that demand that we use them exclusively; I like to turn to the thesaurus for synonyms. A workable synonym will enhance an already wonderful article. It's like using a smaller paintbrush for the smaller details seen in your painting.
