Faith

In the synagogues you preached,
Preached to laymen, also priests.
Brought the Gospel right on time,
Cured the sick, you healed the blind.

Lazarus raised from the dead,
Beautiful, those words you said!
Of the seven beatitudes,
Heaven sent us such good news!

Broke the bread, then poured the wine,
You gave thanks to love divine.
So cruelly were crucified,
Never once uttered a lie.

Never one to seek revenge,
Re-emerged to reach your friends.
You then said with amazing grace,
Remember me, for I am sacred space.

I'm the space between each word,
Our father hears every word.
I draw from a yearning heart,
I repair what's torn apart.

Every sentence I complete,
In the classrooms, on the streets,
Rich or poor man, woman child,
Meek, reserved or running wild.

Black or white, I see no skin,
Neither do I look for sin.
Speak to me, you know my name.
God is love, that's why I came.

What you sense, you cannot see,
My dear child, you're seeing me.
Again I say with amazing grace,
Remember me, for I am sacred space.
