Self control is difficult to cultivate, the flesh pleads with the spirit to comply with its lust, a plea that promises a reward of satisfaction, but what you truly get is guilt and a sense of insecurity. The plea leads you to the point where you no longer have control of what you do but what you do has control over you. It takes you to the stage where you become slave of something that gives you nothing but more longing for it, soon you give up things for it like money, time, self respect or worse respect of others for you. It can make you lose friends, family and loved ones. That plea will continue to lead you astray until you become consumed by the thing you could have done better without.
But there is a cure for this dreadful disease, what you may ask?
CHRIST is the cure
Self control becomes easier the more you let Christ and his LOVE into your life. As his love increases in us our hold to the world's lust and our longing for physical satisfaction gets loose, till one day you are no longer self controlled but fully CHRIST controlled.
For as his love grows in us we become more interested in pleasing him than the pleasing ourselves.
Back up this word with Rom 6:11-14 and Rom 8:14-17
