Family
Sisters...
From an Outsider Looking In
From the time I was knee high, looking way up to see your face…
To now, years later when our eyes meet in the same place,
The one constant I have had the opportunity to see,
Is the friendship of you and your sisters and all that it could be,
You’ve laughed together, cried together, ran to one another’s aid…
Whether as simple as a new wrinkle or in a moment of dire need,
Often, you reminisce through the memories, both good and bad,
But never once have I heard you say, ‘if only’ or ‘what we could have had’.
From an outsider looking in, your not just sisters, your friends…
For the bond of a sister goes deep one way, the bond of a friend the other
When the two meet and become one, you have truly found a treasure,
Sylvia, the wise one, Doris the quiet one, Linda…the not quite as quiet, Darlene, the meek.
Together you’re quite a pack, separately you are unique.
God has given you a gift, so few have the chance to share,
The security from each other, you will always be there.
So as you continue this journey, each your separate path,
You’ll always walk together, to weep and to laugh.
