A Father’s Struggle With His Three Daughters
Faith, Religiosity, and Unbelief are very loved by their Father, but they all deal with Him in very different ways. This hurts Him every day.
Only one of these three daughters genuinely knows Father and as a result is the only one to benefit from His love. It’s not that He doesn’t want to all three equally, but how can He when their own perceptions of him make them treat Him differently?
Take Unbelief for example. She is very independent and thinks she knows best. But at the same time she is constantly banging her head against a wall and is never truly happy with herself. Father tries to contact her every day, but does she answer Him? No, never. Then she tells her friends that He doesn’t even care. Now that’s harsh!
The thing about Unbelief is that she has never tried to get to know Father and yet accuses Him of not being there for her. All her life He has tried to get close but she’s never available—never listening.
You’d think that Father would just give up on Unbelief, but He doesn’t. He spends a lot of time working around her... interesting. Perhaps He does this because he remembers how similar Faith used to be to Unbelief and knows that change is possible.
Next you have Religiosity. Father struggles with this daughter the most. She differs from Unbelief by taking the time to talk to Father, but she is extremely difficult. Religiosity talks but doesn’t listen, which makes their relationship very confusing.
Religiosity goes around telling everyone that she’s His favourite and that she is very close to Father, but in reality, she’s the furthest from Him. This is because Religiosity knows how to please Father but doesn’t—unlike Unbelief, who doesn’t please Father because she doesn’t know Him.
Father gave up talking to Religiosity a long time ago thinking that perhaps silence will help her to recognise her problem. Unfortunately Religiosity couldn’t care less. A painful truth.
Last but certainly not least is Faith—the youngest of the three. She’s Father’s favourite, not because she’s better than the others but because she’s always with Father. Everywhere He goes, she goes. Whenever she wants something, she runs it by Him first. And in return, everything she needs He gives. They have a bond that’s stronger than any other.
One may think Father spoils Faith, but when you look at how she has achieved things over the years, you see that although He was right next to her through it all, she did her part. She did whatever He told her to do.
Faith loves a new challenge, loves to sacrifice, and loves to make her Father happy. That’s why she’s constantly helping Him to reach out to Unbelief, because she remembers what it was like to be that rebellious.
Because of the love and enthusiasm Faith has for Father and His will, she’s the happiest and most successful of the three daughters. And not only that, she’s the only one that’s included in Father’s will, which includes riches and fortune beyond imagination.
Now I ask, which of the three are you?
