Let's fill with contentment
The lives of each other.
Take the hand of a small child,
Sweep him up in your arms.
His mind may be broken,
His words left unspoken.
Yet, he who's disabled,
Needs protection from harm.

Your eyes met the lonely,
The poor, dirty, downcast,
Through your compassion
You found you were moved.
To empty your pockets,
Thinking you found the answer.
It takes more than giving
To walk in their shoes.

Let's make an amendment
Through the love of each other,
Take the hand of a small child,
Sweep him in your embrace.
Also, the lonely, the poor and the down casts,
You may not use judgement,
Accept them with grace.

They write their own reason,
In the book of life's shadows.
Each will state every season
Light refuses to shine.
If you can imagine
That you are the beacon,
You are the reason
They're protected from harm.
