Grief
When I look upon this child before me
What joy now fills my soul,
And yet I wish I could go back
To how things were before.
My innocence then brought joy and trust
To all who were around me,
But now the world has brought me fear
As War goes on around me.
The fights that never seem to end
Keep ringing in my ears,
And, oh, I wish I knew the times
When peace was sweet and dear.
This child before me brings me hope
That one day things will change.
When freedom brings across the seas
Life for our dying lands.

Very nicely done - it's easy to feel the emotion.
Lynette, I can identify with this (I have a new baby), and it reminds me of a saying, 'babies are God's way of telling the world there's still hope'. Well, it went SOMETHING like that! Anyhow...lol...I like your poem. :)
