Healing

I am weary
with my moaning;
every night I flood my bed
with tears;
I drench my couch
with my weeping.
My eye wastes away
because of grief,
it grows weak
because of all my foes.

"What is that, child."

"Huh? Oh.....it's this New Age
thing that everybody's supposed
to have; it's sorta like owning
one 'a those fancy new cameras:
it looks real neat, and everything,
but you're not really sure what
to DO with it."

"Ah. I see."

"Yeah, it sorta goes along
with Feng Shui. Have you ever
heard 'a THAT, Lord?"

[NOD.]

"Yeah. I think it's gotta
do with arranging the furniture
in your house a certain way,
so that you have more positive
energy, or somethin."
(thoughtful squinting)
I think it's got somethin
to do with nature, and
harmony."

"Does it work, child?"

"Well......I dunno, Lord:
every time I'VE rearranged
MY furniture, the only
energy I FEEL is a backache!"

[SYMPATHETIC NOD.]

"I looked up Feng Shui, Lord:
it's Chinese for 'WIND/WATER'."

"Who made the wind and water,
little one?"

"Eh.......YOU, Lord?"

"Ah. Then Whom should
you seek first, child?"

"YOU, Lord?"

[NOD.]

"But, what about my FURNITURE,
Lord? Which way should it FACE?"

"Seek Me, child."

"Yeah, but......"

"And, face Me."

(painful squint)
"But, what about this CLOSURE
thing, Lord? I'm havin a
lot a trouble with that."

"What do you need to close, child?"

"Eh.......I've got this big box, in my
closet, Lord....
of painful memories."

[NOD.]

"I've tried duct tape, Lord,
but in the middle of the night,
the box still pops open."

[NOD.]

"What should I DO?
I even went to Home Depot
to get the strongest tape,
I could find! It cost 9 bucks!
When I got home, I wrapped
up the box twice........but, it
STILL didn't work!"

"What should you have
tried first, My beloved?"

"Eh......gone to WALMART?
You're right, Lord. I
probably would've found
some cheaper tape THERE, huh?"

[LAUGH!]
"No, My beloved!"

"WHAT, then? I've tried
putting it out with the trash,
but that darn box always
makes its way back INSIDE!
It's a CONNIVING little thing,
ain't IT?"

[CHUCKLE.]

"Yeah, Lord.
I'm on one side of my
door, and the box is on
the other......we play a tug
of war......and, it always
WINS."

"You do not have the
strength, My child."

"Uh uh, Lord. I'm way
too sentimental. Plus,
I've got the strength of
a worm."

[NOD.]
"And, Who made the worm,
child?"

"You did, Lord."

[NOD.]
"And, Who will fight
for you, child?"

"Eh......I dunno."

[GENTLE VOICE.]
"WHO, child?"

"Eh.....I guess: YOU?"

[NOD.]

"But WHY, Lord?
Why would You DO that?
I'm just a little worm!"

[SMILE.]
"Because, child.....
I love you."
