Empowered by the Word
But He replied, ‘It has been written. Man shall not live by and upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God’. (Matthew 4:4 [Deut 8:3] AMP)
This is article number two and it deals with being empowered by the Word to conquer. The first article’s text was taken from Deuteronomy 8:3 and the heading entitled ‘Armed for Battle’ the premise was built on ‘paradise lost.’ As a result of Adam and Eve’s disobedience through the deception of Satan in the garden; they lost possession of the keys and handed it over to Satan.
Therefore, when Jesus arose triumphantly from the grave; He took back those keys of authority, and gave them back to every believer to recapture their inheritance. It is only by the Word we are empowered and Jesus demonstrates it when He was driven by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. He quoted what was already written. Jesus said to the devil ‘It has been written’ (Matt 4:4) and He was using His voice to speak out loud the written Word in the Hebrew Scriptures. An emphasis here, we cannot recapture our birthright except by complying with every word of God.
In the last article there was no investigation about the meaning of word, it was taken from my journal showing that God had provoked me to do a study on the ‘Word;’ this piece of writing will endeavour to concentrate on what being empowered by the Word is and the exploits we as the users are able to accomplish.
What does word mean? The word is a command, a promise, it is a statement or remark, we use a word or words to express or articulate; words can give the smallest account of what was written and also a person’s account of the truth. Words are powerful in the natural and it is even more powerful in the Spiritual. Guess what we are empowered by the Word.
The Word became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14) the example of the manifest Word being guided by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness and spent forty days and forty nights, a place of barrenness without food or water, He was possibly feeling alone and very vulnerable, and the devil struck. This is his tactics to attack when we are at our most vulnerable position (places in our lives).
However, Jesus was equipped with the word; He ate, lived and breathes His Father’s Word and was the living Word; consequently leaving us an example to follow and to make a difference in our world...
