My Hope Deferred

Send the answer my Lord
Send it quick
For my hope is deferred
And my heart is getting sick
The pain is intense
The cry is so deep
Jesus in You
My hope I must keep

This battle has been long
At least to me
A miracle I need
Your hand I must see
If I am to go on
And follow You
Then your intervention I need
For there is nothing else that I know to do

I have stood by faith
Upon Your Word
I have prayed for days
And sought first, Heavenward
Yet I feel like a dead man
That You alone can raise
My heart seems so empty
Yet You, do I still praise

Restore unto me the joy
Of my salvation
That I might follow You
To my new destination
Let me not be ashamed
Of my trust and hope in You
Jesus, if I have ever needed something
I need Your mercy now, to make it through

You said that if I would cry out
With all of my heart
That You would hear in Heaven
And heal, answer, and do Your part
I have done my crying
As my pillow is still damp
So Jesus please answer my cry
And my life revamp.

Let not my hope in You
Have been in vain
Jesus please send
The Holy Spirit rain
And wash away
All of my tears
And restore unto me what the locust has stolen
Over these many, empty years.

For Your answer
I give unto You praise
For I believe by faith
That this dead man, You will raise
And breathe new life
Into my sick heart
And make all things new
And give to me a new start.
