If you ask me how it feels like to live in a real bee hive, I would not know. However, television has helped us gain some insight into the bee hive life. Have you ever looked at what the dictionary says about the bee? The Webster’s Dictionary says this, ‘broad-bodied, four winged, hairy insect that gathers pollen and nectar that can sting’. I love the way the dictionary describes exactly how it looks like and then ends with a note of caution. It can sting. It did not mention that it could produce some good stuff too but we all know how sweet that stuff is.
Nobody plans to have his or her child in jail. For many reasons, people end up serving jail sentences. It is a good thing for our society to have a system that seeks to correct those who do what the law says not to do. I however want us to open our eyes a bit today. We portray those who are in jail as rotten in our movies. We hate them. We wish all criminals got life sentences each now and then. If we had our way, lethal injection and the electric chair would be the order of the day. Have you stopped to pray for those in jails all over the world today? Have you asked God to use those in jails to make a difference in this world? Those in jails still posses the honey-making quality despite the fact that they can sting. We are all like dictionaries at times. We describe the physique of people in jail and then mention how nasty their character is or how hardened their hearts are. We fail to mention the fact that they are still God’s creations and thus they still have the chance to be useful in our societies.
Many Bible greats can be referred to as ex-convicts but look what great things God did through them. I believe that God can still use people in jail. They may have stung people but they can still make honey. We sometimes do not even want to wish a single blessing on people in jail. Think twice. Let us support those involved in prison ministry in every way.
Today I implore you. Start praying for people in jail with me. Families have sons and daughters in jail and would really love to see them saved by Christ. Let us pray like how the believers continuously prayed for the apostles whenever they were in jail. Someone who is perishing in jail could have a cure for HIV/AIDS but is not sure what he or she is worth at the moment. If there is a jail near where you live, find time and visit the inmates and speak the word of God to them. Salvation must reach them too.
Think about it!If you are in jail, i want you to know that you have some honey the world needs. We need that honey, don't we?
Shalom!
