I had to leave work early, in the middle of the day,
I had a bad headache, that wouldn't go away.
I laid down at home, stretching my feet out,
I'd feel better soon, of that I had no doubt.
I thought I was asleep, but then I felt a hand,
Someone pulling me, helping me to stand.
As I blinked my eyes, trying to clearly see,
I felt like I was floating, as light as I could be.

As things came into focus, I thought it was a dream,
What I saw before me was not what it would seem.
I stood outside a gate, within a massive wall,
Imagination put me here, no earthly place at all.
Oft I've pictured this, striding through that gate,
To a Home Eternal, in God's Heavenly Estate.
"One more time won't hurt", I said within my mind;
"Why not stroll right in, and see what I can find"?

As I tried to walk, through that gate so white,
I found I couldn't move, something wasn't right.
It was about now, I noticed my right hand,
Was holding to another, and beside me he did stand.
"Well, this is how dreams work", I smiled inwardly,
This time I'd have a guide, someone to escort me.
Now I felt in my right palm, a warmth began to rise,
We floated toward the gate, to my complete surprise.

Upon this gate of Pearl, an Angel stood so tall,
Watching all who enter, whether great or small.
Then, I noticed as well, many others passing by,
As more and more detail, began to fill my eye.
Soon I saw above the gate in letters wide and high,
A name God gave each perfect gate, this one was Levi.
Again I felt the hand in mine, a grip both sure and strong,
Absently I realized we were floating right along.

As we moved through the gate, many people I did see,
Talking, laughing, here and there, but none of them saw me.
I began to be concerned, until I felt a squeeze,
Suddenly I understood and felt again at ease.
Without words he let me know, about my special case,
God allowed me a visit, to look around the place.
This will be my home, when my time on earth is done,
But this is just a peek, for my race is not yet run.

So, I stored this away, in the back of my mind,
Eager now to see, this Home that God designed.
First to catch my eye, the color of the street,
It was purest gold, but smooth like honey sweet.
The gold was like a glass, near transparent through,
Reflecting all above it, and with a golden hue.
In my mind I wondered, how many roads were here,
Instantly within my head, I saw a map appear.

As we traveled up the road, and then atop a rise,
I was not prepared for the sight that met my eyes.
Never have I dreamed, and I'm sure I'll never forget,
Water so clean and pure, through it's furthest depth.
Spreading south and farther west, as far as I could see
Was Heaven's own sweet ocean, called the Crystal Sea.
Now I was floating in the air, with someone holding on,
But I felt weak of knee, and my breath was nearly gone.

As I gazed upon this sight, my eye was drawn in deep,
Such peace I felt well up inside, I couldn't help but weep.
The explanation came to me, of this Sea wide and broad,
To it flows both day and night the very essence of God.
Ahead we'll find the only River that fills this Sea that's known,
The River of Life Eternal that flows from God's own Throne.
I watched the waves lap the shore and felt a rhythm strong,
The unending tide of Love and Hope that fills Creation's Song.

I couldn't say how long we stayed atop that little hill,
If not for that familiar tug, I'm sure I'd be there still.
We drifted further down the road, into a great valley,
As we turned up toward the North, the River I could see.
I began to realize that many things were hidden from me,
All those small details, the ones I think should be.
Were there flowers growing here, with flights of bumble bees,
Was it warm, a fine spring day, was there a southerly breeze?

We slowed down, and as I'd hoped I felt that warm right hand,
And I knew that he would fill me with wisdom to understand.
But as we stopped I felt a pull, I staggered from Light so bright,
Like a veil was ripped away, but I couldn't take in the sight.
In an instant, the veil was back, just as it was before,
Though it took me quite some time, my wits to restore.
Now there are things that mortal men were never meant to see,
And places sin scarred, filthy souls were never meant to be.

To describe that amazing scene, I had just gone through,
I'm not sure there are words to explain that awesome view.
But Light was everywhere at once, a radiance filling the air,
The One who walked beside me, was Beautiful beyond compare.
That pulse I felt back by the Sea, was magnified infinitely,
In crashing waves of Life and Love, and God's amazing Glory!
And I realized I couldn't survive a real glimpse of this place,
The one on my right hand, sustained me with His Grace.

I woke that evening with headache gone, outside I heard a storm,
As thunder sounded I felt my palm becoming oddly warm.
Then as the rain came pounding down, my mem'ry unleashed too,
And I remembered all the wonders God allowed me to view.
As I write these words just now, I wonder how soon 'twill be,
When He will call His children to come Home for Eternity.
Man truly can't imagine all the incredible things in store,
In God Almighty's Home on high, there on Heaven's Shore.
