My Journey

My journey has been a rocky road
Many said that on it, I could never go
People have looked at me and wondered
What is he doing, does he really know?

Many have said that I was crazy
In what I do believe
Many have said that I am just lazy
Just go get a job, then you will receive

They don’t know how hard this has been
To stand against every natural reasoning
To go ways opposite what others would do
Has not been, for me, so very appealing

The battle has been tough
Sometimes I felt I had lost my mind
Maybe that’s a good place to be
Then it can be His, not mine

The Lord once told me
Things would not come for me by the natural way
God has His own way of doing things
Regardless of what others may say

Why Jesus chose this road for me
Only Heaven does know
It has not been the popular way
As I see few others, that were willing to go

All I know is that I believe His Word
What He said, that He has promised to perform
This world and its system have no luster
Instead of joy, has only brought to me, forlorn

The cost has been the greatest
I have ever had to pay
No home, money or car
I have just held on, to what Jesus did say

Spending days alone
With no one else with to talk
It has just been Jesus and me
As the floors I just seemed to walk

Just when I think that all is lost
He seems to just show up
He renews my strength
And refills my cup

The battle with the enemy
Has been so intense
Many times I have wondered
Will this war I ever win?

Jesus once told me
That with Him that I would only win
Little did I know what I had to go through
To His plan, enter in

I have gained a great respect
For people who pay the cost
To answer God’s call
To reach the hurting and the lost

The journey is long
And not without pain
But it is a journey worthwhile
If at the end, you experience God’s rain.
