Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. Proverbs 19:20
Look back on the years of your life when you were a teenager and you can certainly remember some of the foolish things you did.
I remember one time I was riding in a car with some friends; we were going down a two lane highway at 9 o clock at night, in traffic with a cornfield on each side - we were blazing down that highway at 135 MPH!
That wasn't only foolish...it was just plain stupid!
Today at 35 I wouldn't even think of pulling such a stunt! It could easily have cost me my life as well as that of my friends but ah youth - We acted so dumb!
I've been absolutely amazed, as I've watched myself grow both mentally and spiritually, what a difference a few years makes in regards to wisdom.
Everything about me today is completely different than when I was 17 but it's important that we not only remember our Creator in the days of our youth but that we remember Him our whole lives even when we get to the point that this earth is fading away.
Solomon, the wisest man on this earth wrote,
Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. Proverbs 19:20
You may have made many mistakes in the past but you don't have to keep on making those same mistakes!
Paul the apostle wrote in Phillippians 3:13,
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but [this] one thing [I do], forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before...
In a day and age when psychiatrists encourage one to relive their past, Paul tells us to forget it!
Paul writes,
Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Regardless of whether your mistakes were made before you were saved or after you can't go back and re-live them so you might as well forget them and choose a new way to live - one that is founded in the Word of God.
Dear friend I would encourage you to receive instruction so that you may be wise in your latter end.
One of the most important, wisest things you could do-if you have never trusted Christ as Savior - is to do that right now.
The Truth is that two-thousand years ago Christ died on the cross for sin, but not for His own - He died for yours. Even though you had not yet been born, God, being outside of time, placed all of your sins past present and future onto Christ and forgave you right then and there. Three days later God raised Jesus again from the dead so that you could become a new person. Do you believe this? This is the simple gospel! Salvation is as simple as believing the previous paragraph.
Paul told the Phillippian jailor in Acts 16:31
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
The Truth is that when you simply believe it activates what God has done for you and you step into it.
Paul also writes and says in Romans 10:9,
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
If you believe that when Christ died He forgave you of all your sins and that He rose again from the dead that you might be made the righteousness of God in Him then I would ask you to pray with me now and tell God that you believe
Pray right now:
Dear God, I know that I am a sinner but I believe that two thousand years ago you placed all my sin on Jesus and you have forgiven me. I believe that you raised Him from the dead and that you raised me from the death of sin and have made me alive in your Son. I confess that Jesus is my Lord and that because of what He did you have saved me! Thank you for saving me! In Jesus Name, Amen!
